Govt wants electric cars to account for 10% of output by 2030

MOSCOW, Aug 23 (PRIME) -- The government expects that electric cars will account for 10% of the entire car production by 2030, as follows from a statement seen by PRIME on Monday.

"Russia plans to produce at least 25,000 electric cars by 2024 and to launch more than 9,000 charging stations for them," the statement read.

"Fulfillment of the plan will be split in two stages. The first, (until 2024) will end with preparation of a groundwork for mass production of electric cars. The second (2025–2030) aims at output of 10% of all vehicles made in the country," according to the document.

The government will define the places where the charging stations will be located in September–November 2021. The electric car support system will include cut-rate lending and leasing and probably, free toll road pass. A pilot of free electric car ride on the toll roads will be launched in 2022.
